About 1 in 5 Canadian adults struggle to read everyday materials or handle the basic math tasks that work and daily life require. KDL partners with the community and non-profit organizations working on that problem every day.
The work behind the programs.
Community and non-profit organizations do the day-to-day work of adult literacy and language learning, usually on tight budgets and with stretched staff.
KDL handles the specialist work behind the scenes: program design, curriculum development, assessment, and instructor training. Small organizations don’t always have that expertise in-house. We fill the gap so your team can focus its time and resources where they’re needed most, instead of trying to do everything for everyone.

Teachable content built for your adult learners, drawing on deep experience designing curriculum frameworks across a range of programs.
Training and instructor support
We train tutors and instructors directly, so the skill stays with your team long after the engagement ends.
For some organizations, this becomes an ongoing relationship: a regular check-in, a sounding board when a decision needs another perspective. Curriculum design, materials development, and instructor training don’t need to be a year-round role. Bringing in that expertise for the specific work a program needs is often the more efficient use of a tight budget.

Why KDL for this work.
Katrina and the KDL associates bring a breadth of experience across adult learning, language and literacy education, digital literacy, and online and distance learning. That includes 25+ years of teaching English and literacy to adults, including two decades focused on immigrants and refugees settling in Calgary, curriculum modules used nationally, and training delivered for local, provincial, national, and international professional organizations.
